The third concert featured in Vaibhavam 2018 is our very first performance for Mudhra. The concert flew to a high energy start with the classic "Enthavedu Kondu", with the line from the Anupallavi "Chinta Deerchuta" giving the ideal scope for an emotive neraval. The memorable renditions of Musiri Subramaniam Iyer is so inspirational that the spirit which he invested in the neraval would charge any musician who sings this! An exhilarating feeling to explore this raga and neraval as it unfolded around the upper gandhara - the note which rings in a dramatic element!
Saveri is one of those "madi" ragas, that is, a traditional raga that has a very definite and well laid out framework that repels attempts at taking liberties! But some days, a Saveri will take you on an adventuresome journey with unexplored nooks opening unexpectedly! It is a joy to sing a song that you have learnt as a child..each cadence and note of the krithi resonated with the beloved memories of our Guru Sri TS Krishnaswami who taught us this masterpiece of Syama Sastri with so much love! The sprightly Dharmavati was our choice for Ragam Thanam Pallavi. We had a theme running for the Music Season 2017- to choose lines from a song from the same raga for the Pallavi. And the charming Bhajana Seya Raada O Manasa of Mysore Vasudevacharya provided a perfect Pallavi line for this lovely raga.
L Ramakrishnan, a wonderful talent from Mumbai played his first season concert for us, and along with Sai Giridhar and Chandrasekara Sharma, we had the most supportive and energetic team with us! We remember this concert for many things- one of them being the absolutely wonderful audience we had - and the spirit of the concert truly breathed the shared energy between both the musicians and rasikas.
